Interaction of the functional end groups of a reactive polymer and compatibility with a miscible polymer will enable XIBOND® compatibilizers to obtain optimal polymer blends.

Compatibilizers are necessary to optimize the morphology in polymer blends, resulting in an optimized property profile and will contribute to the surface appearance of your plastics.

Most polymers are immiscible and cannot be blended together without phase separation or delamination. Compatibilizers will improve the interfacial tension in polymer blends and will create a more stable morphology against high stresses. They enhance adhesion between phases and prevent phase separation and delamination. Compatibilization can greatly improve mechanical properties in various polymer blends, compounds and alloys.

The XIBOND® range offers multiple reactive compatibilizers containing functional styrenics with both Maleic Anhydride (MA) functionality and Glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) functionality. MA and GMA are reactive components that interact with functional end groups – such as the -OH and -NH2 end groups – to obtain polymer blends with optimal properties. Use the selector tool to find out which solutions the XIBOND® portfolio can offer.
